Quick tips to protect your home

When at home always keep the keys in your doors handy in case of a fire and you need to get out quickly.

Your front and back doors should be given the same level of security. A back door is just as important even though it is not in immediate sight.

If you lose your keys or move into a new home, make sure you change the locks.

Install key operated locks on all windows, making sure they can all be opened with a master key.
Fit security screens to windows, especially where access from ground level is easy. If you are renting, you will need to seek permission from the landlord.

Faulty locks and catches should be repaired or replaced immediately.

Sliding windows are very susceptible to thieves. If you have sliding doors or windows in your home, place a rod of dowelling firmly in the track and lay the other end against the vertical side of the window frame to prevent the sliding window from being opened.
Make sure all side gates are locked.

Don’t allow couriers to drop off packages at the font door. Always ensure there is someone home to receive the package.
