Organisation Made Easy

One of our favourite lines at A Good Sort is “sit down with a cup of tea”, once you’re sitting down, read this article and you will see how easy it is to get organised. Let’s face it, you will never get your house and family totally organised, BUT, YOU CAN do a few things to improve it. The old saying…”A place for everything and everything in it’s place” is so simple, but SO TRUE. Basically there are two reasons why our households become cluttered and disorganised:

1.    If you live on your own, everything stays where you put it.  In a family everyone has access to everything and generally don’t return things to where they got them;
2.    If something doesn’t have a ‘PLACE’ assigned to it, we start to SHOVE, after shoving, comes CRAMBING, after crambing we just try to shut the door before things fall out.

Of course in the beginning there will be a little more to do, but once everything is in its right place and the routine has been set you will be amazed at how organised you stay without even thinking about it. Five simple steps will get you organised whether it’s a room or a wardrobe:

1.    Decide what is the problem.

2.    Pull everything out.

3.    Work out what to keep, recycle or get rid of.

4.    Put back what you want.

As you go, write a list of things you could buy to assist with the re-organisation  i.e  drawer dividers, new coat hangers, storage containers…there’s lots of items out there, which work brilliantly.

5.    Bag up what you don’t want and put it in the car to give to friends, clothes bins etc.
(just get it out of the house)

Organising is time consuming in the beginning, but will save you time in the end.  Start off small.  Pick 1 room and go for it.  Some of the helpful storage solutions you find for one room, will help you in another room. It really is addictive! Apart from the obvious of what you can do in each room a big part of organising a family starts in the kitchen. This is where the paper builds up on the bench and table, not to mention the fridge, resulting in many Australian families eating on TV trays because they have lost the kitchen table under paperwork .  This is where our family organiser comes in, my.org®aniser  the smartest family organiser ever.  Designed for mums by mums, my.org®aniser, is a combined 2007 diary and filing system for use in the home.  It will totally organise the mass of paper around your kitchen into one easily accessible place.  my.org®aniser is designed to manage and schedule the myriad of tasks that family life encounters.
